It is: 2016!
Hello, my lovely reader! What's new? Where have I been? Well, it's kind of a funny story. You see, I thought I'd published this post already! As it turned out, it didn't go through. So here I was, wondering why no one had viewed this new post, when lo and behold, that's because it didn't exist. Whoops. Anyway, to make that semi-long story short: I thought it had been two weeks since my last post. It's been six. Eep. My mistake. Sorry! Anyhoo. Today our topic is: BOOKS! (part 1) Now, today I'm going to give ideas for books to give as gifts, both to younger and older kids, or just to check out. We'll start with the younger set and move our way up. The way I'm going to do this is that I will insert the cover, title, and author of a book, along with a teeny-tiny description. Today, we'll just do little kids. Okay? Okay! FOR SMALL CHILDREN: 1. A Bad Case Of Stripes This is a really clever, funny, and sweet book. I vividly remember dressing as this character for Halloween as a small child! 2. A Snowy Surprise This is a really sweet and cute book with a very nice message. 3. The Adventures of Morris the Moose A comical and adorable book, if a bit more intended for slightly older readers; by which I mean, maybe 7-year-olds instead of 5-year-olds. 4. Grandpa's Overalls A really cute and creative story, sure to please all little readers. 5. If I Were Your Mother A touching, heartwarming little story. One of my favorites. 6. Me First An absolutely hilarious story that I still quote to this day....with a message. 7. My Very Own Name A wonderful tale, customized just for your little one! Amazing. 8. Of Thee I Sing A lovely, heartwarming tale by our president, Barack Obama. 9. Sweet Dreams Adorable. I used to read this EVERY NIGHT before bed! 10. The Gift of Nothing Lovely story with #adorbs art! 11. The Kissing Hand Beautiful, sweet story. Awesome! 12. The Snowy Day A very cute tale! 13. The Little Old Lady Who Was Not Afraid Of Anything Clever, comical, and creative. Perfect for small children or as a nostalgic read for kids and adults! That's all of the ones that sit on my bookshelf at the moment. What? I like them! Great memories :) Alrighty then! Now, we move on to our book review. Today's book is: Finding Audrey by Sophie Kinsella! This book is AMAZING. It's just incredible! Our narrator is Audrey, a teenager struggling with an anxiety disorder after an incident at her school. We travel with her as she deals with her crazy family, helpful therapist, and an adorable male friend who may become more than that, all the while trying to just "be cured" and "be normal again." Sound kind of depressing? I don't blame you. But the thing is, it's not. At all. Audrey is sweet, loving, clever, and hilarious. Her family is amazing and incredibly funny. They're by no means a perfect family, but they feel real and they are simply wonderful. Audrey's sense of humor is spot-on, and the scenes with her parents and brothers made me crack up. Equal parts heartbreaking and hilarious, Finding Audrey is a brilliant and beautiful novel that I'll reread many, many times. A must-read. Rating: 4.92 stars!! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ In book news: -Symptoms of Being Human (by Jeff Garvin) came out today! I neeeeeeeeeed it. Pronto. -Looking for a good graphic novel? If you want something serious and well-done, but with a touch of humor, try Persepolis and Persepolis 2 by Marjane Satrapi. -Looking for something similar to The Book Thief (five stars)? Try Between Shades of Gray by Ruta Sepetys. -I do not recommend: Looking for Alaska by John Green. Sorry, JG...you know I love ya, but not this time. -Help me out and take this survey! Look down... And before we end today's post, I have to include a song. Here it is--Cecilia and the Satellite, performed by The Voice's very own Korin Bukowski! Have a great night, reader! Until next time!
