It is: 2016!
Hi, reader! I'm Madeline Jane, but I have a pretty decent amount of nicknames----feel free to call me Madeline, Maddie, MJ, Madz, and/or Mads! This post's topic? Me!
About Me: I was born and raised in Buffalo, New York, which is where I currently reside. I am a singer, guitar player, dancer, and actress, and I absolutely love to read and write. That said, you can find me on Goodreads, too! My username is "Maddie Jane/America Singer :)". Or, of course, just leave me a comment! My dream: To be a performer! I've dreamt of getting a record deal since I was about ten. My favorites: Singer: Halsey or Christina Perri TV Show: Once Upon A Time Color: Orange or purple Movie: Saving Mr. Banks Book: The Book Thief Concert: So far, the Halsey/Metric/Imagine Dragons concert. But I'm going to Christina Perri/Colbie Caillat/Rachel Platten next week, so that may change... :) Here's the plan---I'll include a book review in every post, and you can leave a comment about it if you like. Because I can and will debate books for hours. Seriously. Now, here's the review: This review is on Some Girls Are by Courtney Summers. *If you liked the book, avoid this review :/ Rating: 1.5 stars Wow. I'm actually shocked at how much I disliked this book, especially since I read it for its rave reviews! It just didn't work for me. At all. First of all, there were the characters. The mean girls were completely, melodramatically, totally-over-the-top cruel.…so much that they just weren't real to me. And the rest of them...they were just so FLAT. Either they had no backstory, or they had some brief, wasted little tale that was probably meant to be clever. Yeah, well, not clever---just flat and irrelevant. Nice going. Second, there was Regina. Ugh, Regina. Throughout the whole book, she threw herself one big pity party. And then, on the few occasions that she fought back, she was childish in her attempts and yet was surprised when the mean girls continued to torment her. Also, clearly she was supposed to become likable. Um...no. She frustrated me from beginning to end. Third, the plot. Without getting into detail, it had so many gaping holes, an elephant could have fallen through it. So I'm supposed to believe that she told people and they believed her...but they didn't TELL anyone? Yeah, right! Ughhhhhhhh. I could go on, but I'll wrap it up. Basically, this book's only redeeming quality was the dialogue. It sounded real---like if these people existed, this is actually what they'd say. But other than that, which isn't much…I wanted to throw this book across the room. *end rant* Okay, review over! Last thing, and this is interactive for you, reader: What should my next post's topic be? Leave me a comment and tell me! Please! I can't do this on my own, you know..... ;) Love, Maddie :)
